Successful American illustrator. His baroque surrealism combine human figures and nature to explore anthropological and environmental dynamics.
Between the United States and Europe
Steven Kenny was born in Peekskill, New York in 1962. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1984. During his final year of art school, he often independently studied in Rome. Direct exposure to European art, especially the Baroque works of Italian, Dutch, and Flemish schools, had a significant impact on his painting style. Before settling in New York City, he gained prominence as a freelance commercial illustrator for clients such as Sony Music, Time Magazine, AT&T, United Airlines, Celestial Seasonings, Microsoft, and many others.

About Human Nature
His illustrations have repeatedly received recognition from the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts Magazine, and the New York Art Directors Club. In 1997, Steven relocated to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. From that point onward, he devoted his attention exclusively to fine arts. In the early months of 2010, Steven returned to New York, where he continued to exhibit his award-winning works in galleries across the United States and Europe. Since a young age, the beauty and mystery of nature have profoundly influenced his chosen subject matter. Steven’s images could be described as an expression of baroque surrealism. His compositions often combine the human figure with elements of nature, observing our interactions with the environment, while symbolically alluding to the dynamics of human nature in general.
